Who Am I?
My name is Alberto, and I started this blog, for four main reasons:
I want to write articles and short personal reflections that can be interesting to Supply Chain passionate and professionals, and to receive comments, ideas and advices from you.
To provide to newbies and curious ones, free training and tips about particular tasks in the Supply Chain sphere (I’m going to explain how to calculate, forecast, negotiate and act on certain tasks within the Supply Chain).
To practice more my English writing (since I’m Italian) and have a personal diary, to check my progress through my career, expertise and English writing.
And last but not least, to learn with you, I'm in constant learning, and I'm literally a newbie too in the Supply Chain industry, the fact that I'm a passionate doesn't make me an expert or veteran.
So, I'm going to write about my learning path, books, academic lessons, online courses and certificates.
Now, about myself...
I was born and raised in the province of Genoa, where the sea was my first teacher. Even as a child, I used to wake up looking out over the sea, watching the merchant ships on the horizon. I wondered where they came from and to which ports they were headed. I wondered how thousands of different products could converge in the same supermarket, the distribution mechanisms, the production processes, the places where products were stored and the quantities required. I was a curious child, hungry for answers in a world that does not speak of the 'banality' of these processes.
This childish curiosity ignited in me a passion for logistics and the sea. I began my academic journey at the Nautical and Transport Logistics Technical Institute, an experience that laid the foundation for my understanding of the industry. Afterwards, I continued with the first three-year degree course in Economics of Maritime Companies, Logistics and Transport at the University of Genoa. This path provided me with a solid theoretical and practical understanding of the maritime and logistics world.
But my desire to deepen and broaden my knowledge did not stop there. I decided to go further, in fact I am currently participating in the prestigious MicroMaster's programme at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology: Center of Transportation and Logistics. This path, which begins with a remote learning experience, offers a unique opportunity to apply to complete study in Supply Chain Management on site.
What fuelled my passion for supply chain?
I couldn't say exactly, but I am convinced that the environment I grew up in, the people around me and, above all, the questions I asked myself as a child played a key role. I believe with 99.9996% certainty (and I hope most of you catch the quote!) that these experiences have shaped my path.
In this blog, I will share with you my adventures, reflections and insights, hoping that I can inspire even one person to become passionate or talk to a professional with 'love' for the same field.
